Here's a new spam number that has begun to call.

Looks like I'm in for another round illegal telemarketing until nomorobo goes online.

Here we go again. 1-1/2 hours later the same number just called. See previous post.

This time there's a Caller ID. It's the same Caller ID from spam calls I've been getting for the last 2 weeks but was using different numbers. (I'm assuming you guys blocked those numbers)

This is probably not going to help, but:

If you are using an old, POTS-style wireless phone connected via a VOIP RJ11 jack, there are wireless phones that can block calls using caller ID (via the phone number, not the name). The phone doesn't ring for blocked calls. However, this works by checking the caller ID sent during the first ring, which is always suppressed; this always results in your phone ringing one less time, which can make real callers hang up prematurely.

I've been getting calls from the ever-delightful Rachel (or sometimes "Carmen") at Card Services. They've been using these numbers:

I've seen signs that the first one is (or was) a real number, but perhaps not anymore. Lately "Rachel" calls exclusively from numbers within my own area code. I found a Russian site that looks like it lists all the spoof-able numbers in my area code (yay!).

"Spoofing" caller ID doesn't require any "spoofable" numbers. With my VOIP service, I can set my caller ID to any number I want. I'm sure spammers can do the same, too.

Since they seem to skipping through to the unassigned numbers, I assumed there is some compelling reason for using unassigned numbers. Not accidentally poking a bear (three letter government agency of your choice) that can actually do something about them? No idea. Speculating wildly.

I've researched these numbers, and they appear to be well-known political/spam. They have called over a dozen times in the last several days (always at or around dinner). Please block-

Automated robocall -- using a very sweet little old lady voice that sounds quite like a real person -- it started immediately when voicemail picked up by asking "if you are female press 1" .... then "Are you still there? I didn't hear you, are you still there? if you are still there please press any key now ..."

These are not typos, this is how the numbers appear on my caller ID

Just got a call from 415-612-2727. Caller ID was simply: 4156122727. Robocall message said it was about my Google+ listing. Yeah, right. Online, there are many reports of abuse from this number.

Please block. Thank you!
