Interesting, I bet you're right that that's the issue. I first began to experience the issue with AT&T U-verse when the tech replaced our old modem (forgot the model number) with this Motorola. He claimed it was a better modem. When we switched to Sonic, the AT&T rep again gave us the NVG589. I wonder if they'd swap it out for the 5268AC...?
The problem might also be caused by a misconfiguration somewhere upstream, allowing smaller ipv6 packets to get through while larger ones are fragmented and quietly dropped. This is worth a read:
