Today it seems to be bringing up the login screen almost every time I come back to the window.

I'd think the advent of threading support in modern desktop, mobile, and webmail clients has eliminated the need for wholesale quoting of previous messages in a 2-person back & forth.

If you're getting rememberme issues, have you tried clearing cache and cookies related to the beta? I'm unable to reproduce at my end so there could be something going on there.

Okay, it just did it again.

That's a style choice for each person to make for themselves. Even in a thread, going back to previous messages to find and copy and paste some detail -- is still a pain.

Top- posting with all previous under it, is a good default for a webmail. A setting to change it is okay for anyone who wants to spend that much time configuring their own. For someone who doesn't want to have to configure settings on a webmail, it's simple to select and delete any text they don't want.

And the person we're corresponding with, may not want to have to look back in their old messages either.

This is one thing the webmail has got right; don't 'fix' it. ;-)

Okay, it just did it again.
And again, just while I was here at the forum for a few minutes making a post!

Non-functional message pane, unable to select messages, Settings, etc. I am able to select Inbox, Sent, etc. but no messages are displayed in the reading pane. No other features are selectable. Dead links. Reload, cache, etc has no effect. Just non-functional with IE flavor.

Win7 Ultra 64
Win Pro 64
Win Pro 32

Indeed. Unfortunately, a significant majority of my correspondents over the years have complained because I wasn't reminding them of what they wrote to me. I finally said "***k it" and started leaving the full text of their messages after my response, and I haven't had a single complaint.

In the few cases where I had to respond to multiple points in an email, I interspersed the text of my reply within judicious quoted lines of the original message. Thunderbird still lets me do that today. Unfortunately, most of my emailing is done at work, where we're forced to use Lookout^H^H^H^H^H^H^H Outlook, which won't prefix the text of the original message with quote marks.

AAMOF, I think Outlook was the first client that defaulted to the "Insert reply above original message" format.

This "standard" was created by Microsoft, which convinced many businesses to adopt Outlook and Exchange for business email processing.

More recent versions of Outlook allow the user to see the entire thread of messages, regardless of the folders into which they'd be filed.

I rarely read anything other than the most recent message, unless it specifically refers me to older content in the thread.

Slightly more than that, jhs. Also, I'm not sure if the iPad will allow one to change the protocol; you may need to delete the account and reestablish it.

On my iPad, I have the following settings:

I'm getting this when trying to access:

SERVICE CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE!

Error No. [501]

This started around 2 or 3 pm on Friday, and I'm getting it now (though I don't know if it has been occurring through that duration).
