Firstly, webmail (whether the new one or any of the old) is not designed to filter spam. That's the job of SpamAssassin, whatever blacklists you've put in place via member tools, and any other rules (like procmail). https://wiki.sonic.net/wiki/Spam_FAQ
Deleting spam in my inbox is the ONLY reason I use any kind of Sonic mail anyway!
jsh, might you be able to illuminate further your use case?

Do you mean that you only use webmail for deleting spam, and you use outlook or some other mail client for viewing and reading your Sonic.net mail? If so, why not delete it from that client?

Thanks!

I like to clean up my email before I bring it into Outlook. Overnight I will have sometimes 150 messages in the Spam folder, which I generally delete page by page in Atmail. Then, my Inbox will still have over 50% spam! I do this on my iPad at breakfast, before I turn on my desktop computer. I like being able to click the checkbox in front of each spam message in my Inbox and deleting them all in one swell foop, especially when we are talking about at least 20 messages. That's a lot to individually click and delete.

After I clean up all my email using the Sonic interface, I will read email using the iPad mail client. I will respond right there to anything urgent. When I bring up Outlook on my desktop computer later on only wanted messages appear there! (except for a few that got added since I screened everything)

Atmail with the Basic interface just works better on an iPad and probably on every other touch platform that doesn't have mouseovers or multi-clicks.

Is there any reason (bandwidth, etc...) not to delete the messages from the native iPad mail client? When viewing the mailbox from the native mail client, tap the 'Edit' button. You can then tap to select a message (or multiple messages) and move your selections to another folder, delete them, etc.

I just prefer to clean up my email on the Sonic side before I bring it down. I don't want to clutter up my iPad or Outlook with messages that I already know are going to be at least 50% spam.

Frankly, the checkbox interface in Atmail Basic is easier and faster to use than even the iPad client.

On the iPad, just select "edit" in the upper right of the message list and you'll get a checkbox next to each item. Check the ones you want to trash, and delete them.

Sounds like you're getting a lot of spam, do you have our SpamAssassin turned on in Member Tools?

Yes, Spam assassin is on.

I know how to use it. I just don't like the idea of sending all that bogus content down to my machines, even if it's fast, because I know most of it will be garbage email. I would rather catch it at the source. Well, not the source, but at least up-stream while it is still at Sonic.

You find that this takes less time that just edit/check/delete on the iPad or your PC with Outlook?

Yes, it's less time. At least with Atmail Basic, especially if the spam has large attachments that will come down if I don't delete them first.

But if you get rid of Atmail, I will do what you suggest.

But it's not just a matter of the number of clicks I have to make. I also think it is "bad design" to let large amounts of garbage into my devices and then delete it instead of preferably deleting all that garbage as far upstream as possible. Sonic is as far upstream as I can reach. Just better to delete junk on the host before I bring down the good stuff, don't you think?

I logged in a half hour ago, checking the 'keep me logged in' box, then read something in another window of the same browser (chrome)-- then it made me log in again!

This has been happening several times a day, but I couldn't swear that my Acer had not gone into power save or something. But this time I know I was using the same computer -- and browser -- continuously.

New gripe - I can't self-bcc in the new webmail application.

I like having copies of all my sent mail on my computer at home, so when I send email from the webmail, I (usually) will bcc: myself. I then get a copy of my sent email so I can download it onto my home computer(s). I just sent an email from the new webmail, replying to an email I received. I added my email address as a bcc: on the reply. It doesn't show up in that account's inbox, either in the new webmail, or the old one, or on my phone.

Doing the same thing from the old nutsmail interface would get me a new message in my inbox, as it should. This is a bug in the new webmail.
