We do offer Fiber products to businesses today, from 100Mbps to 10Gbps, but they are part of our Enterprise product line, and more expensive. Fusion is consumer/very-small-biz, and we haven't yet built any Fusion Fiber past any business premises.klui wrote:Dane has posted Fusion Fiber will not be available to businesses.Josh Willis wrote:I'm sure the guys at Craigslist would appreciate it

Dane,
Please keep downtown San Jose in mind for future Fusion fiber experiments. There are lots of high-density condos and apartments with dark fiber already installed, and Cat5e in the walls. ...and some current customers like me who would be enthusiastic evangelists!

Nice to see the Sunset getting the pilot. Hopefully this means when it expands out, it'll be from there. When you make it to 7th and Judah, I'll be a very happy man.
If you install fiber optic in San Jose (a big IF), can one actually directly connect the fiber optic into the computer?
And will there be an option to raise the speed limit further more either free or cost increase?

Currently we offer two fiber speeds, 100Mbps and 1000Mbps (1Gbps). The fiber connects to an "optical network terminal" (ONT), which is customer premise equipment which then outputs Gigabit Ethernet on copper for connection to premise equipment.stanley1943 wrote:If you install fiber optic in San Jose (a big IF), can one actually directly connect the fiber optic into the computer?

I live in Original Daly City near the San Mateo/San Francisco county line and just had your DSL service installed today. Will fiber service eventually make it's way to my neighborhood?dane wrote:Fiber availability will depend upon your location, our success in the business model including uptake of Fusion as well as interest in the fiber product, financing, and type of utility construction.
Today we are expanding coverage in Sebastopol, plus pushing ahead with a pilot in a portion of the Sunset District in San Francisco. What happens next will depend upon all of these factors.
I'm inside the Sunset fiber area (24th & Kirkham)... is there a waiting list or something that one can sign up for access when this service is available?
Once the Fiber is complete, we'd move all Fusion customers over to it - so being a Fusion customer means you're "on the list".bbusby wrote:I'm inside the Sunset fiber area (24th & Kirkham)... is there a waiting list or something that one can sign up for access when this service is available?

i would love to get off of comcrap but after going through the signup for fusion service i see that "Your location is about 13,325 wire feet from our local serving office." given that distance i'm concerned that performance will be poor. can someone who is also a long reach from the serving office tell me how their performance is and what i can realistically expect to get?
thanks so much
