Thanks for the feedback! I am adding this to the thread already created for this discussion.

My latest bill went up to $80 from the original $60, which had jumped to $70. I could shrug off $70 for the mediocre 17mbs we get. Avoiding the dreadful ATT and all that. But now I'm looking elsewhere. There are better uses for charitable giving.

Hate to be a "me too", but I'm looking as well. I've been a long time happy Sonic customer. But I'm paying $102/month for 2-line fusion, and I am getting ... 4.5 Mbps.

That's just too low a data rate for that price.

I'm dreading the alternatives, but the price point right now is just not justified. And like many others, it doesn't look like I'll be seeing fiber (from anyone) in San Jose...

Regards,

Mark

hi,

jumping in on this thread because i have a question for CEO Dane Jasper, but apologies for not scanning each single post to see if it's been asked:

why slap on a roughly 20% price increase all at once, instead of phasing it in over a period of time, a year or two maybe, for existing customers?

i switched to Sonic because i wanted to take advantage of this choice in the marketplace. now that i can switch back to something else i have leverage, but will consider staying if this situation can be rectified. thanks!

Can you make the call and get rid of that extra $10?

As far as I can tell based on a previous post by Dane, Sonic is up against their "credit limit" (so to speak) because they spent a lot of their money on the fiber buildout. They want to borrow more (in other words raise their "credit limit") and to do that they need to increase their monthly income. By immediately adding $10 they can immediately borrow more.

Yes, that's basically where we are - and with a goal of delivering gigabit fiber to everyone we can, we felt we had no alternative. To cease deployment of new fiber would relegate our members to DSL and resale services forever, and as a result, be the beginning of the end for us.

"because they spent a lot of their money on the fiber buildout. They want to borrow more ..."
It seems Dane agrees to this explanation:
"Yes, that's basically where we are... "

Sounds likes a spoiled kid spends without keeping track of the credit card.
Borrow when someone asks someone for a favor, not by forcing.

If Sonic changes the raise because of 'inflation', I'd be more happy.

Agreed. If they raised $2-3 then it makes sense because of inflation, but $10 is just insane!
Dane, you should put yourself in someone's shoes. Would you be happy if someone raise your HOA by 15-18%? And would you be a happy customer if someone raise your car insurance by 15-18% without a legit reason?

I don't know if I have Fusion or not. I have the basic Internet and phone. I have never opted for something 'faster' or more complex. My bill just went up $10 too. As a senior, getting price increases from everyone (my health plan just this week) is driving me into a cave. My income is going nowhere, yet everything is going up. What are we seniors to do? No Senior rate? Do I have Fusion? Do I have another option that costs less? i read your explanation of the price increase but, as I've asked, I don't know if what I have is Fusion or not. Please respond.
