Sonic has long offered a "block Anonymous callers" feature, a handy little thing one can activate in the Voice control panel

Spammers, scammers and fraudsters long ago figured this out. It seems to be fashionable now to set the callerid name to a city and state. A call from "Berkeley, CA", "Hayward, CA", "Los Angeles, CA" - always a fraud in my experience.

So it would be excellent to be able to block these as well.

Going further out on a limb, most times i've done a reverse-number lookup with a more full-featured service, I see that the scams come from a handful of shady multiply-sanctioned, fined by the FTC but still in business virtual Telcos who seem to specialize in hosting call centers and robodialers. Wouldn't it be cool if we, the customers, could "defederate" ourselves from these mofos? In order to do that, we'd need to be able to know that information, which surely the Sonic backend knows. Make it a block option; we need more affirmative consent in our communications systems.
