I can confirm this is the case that will submit a bug report for this. In the next version, you'll be able to work around this behavior by composing messages in a new window - so when you compose/reply/forward a new window will be opened without interfering with whatever you have on the screen at that time. This will be an option you can control in the settings.

That said, I do like SHIFT-click for selecting a large range of messages, by selecting the two ends, so having both systems is ideal. Checkboxes for random selections (or CTRL-clicks for people who want to use two hands), and SHIFT-clicks to select a larger group of messages by picking the top and bottom of the group.
Like Gmail's implementation?

Are the colors settable? In Firefox, at any rate, the pull-down menus ("Mark", "More", etc.) are a barely-legible gray on dark gray.

I think there is some confusion here. When the menus are gray on dark gray, they aren't available and are disabled. When they are available they are white on dark gray. Do you think there is something that would make this clearer?

I suggest using a more fluid layout. The fixed width and placement of elements forces some of the key features off the edge of the browser window for me. I'm on a desktop with a 19" monitor and I can't see the whole UI unless I widen the browser window MUCH more than usual. Attached is a screen shot of the top of the UI at my usual browser width. The Logout and Help links are not visible without horizontal scrolling. I would prefer it if these links would float at the right edge at narrower browser widths.
Also, any chance we could get some control over the columns in the list of messages -- control their width, eliminate selected columns from the display? The far left column under the gearwheel is always blank, the star column seems redundant, and the last three columns are off the right edge so I can't see them anyway.
Agree with the person who wants an easy way to set up a filter/rule based on the current message. I did, however, find it's easy to drag a message from the message list to my Spam folder -- that is very cool! If that automatically created a filter to reject all future emails from that same sender, it would be even cooler!

Is it possible to search all the mailboxes on a single search? After searching the current Inbox, I had to click on another mailbox (Oldmail) to find what I wanted. (Luckily guessed the right one first try.)

You're right--I was confused. Thanks for pointing that out. Perhaps the menu itself should be greyed and not pull down, like "Reply" and "Forward" are greyed out if nothing is selected.

Webmail seems like a step backwards in that not only do I have to login each time, but then it times out and I have to keep repeat it after a bit. Is there a setting to change that?
What was the point of not having the check boxes which made it easier to delete specific multible messages?
The new webmail really sucks on a tablet with sizing, viewing etc. Who cares about all the extra things webmail has if so many basic convienent features are lacking?

That's a good point. The other menus do it so those should as well.
