More like based on the input of some people on this forum Dane can make an educated guess and estimate that some people will not see things the same way he does and move to alternative carriers. Do you always try to find the most negative approach to things ? if so I pity you .

This sounds like a friendly way of saying "If you're one of those people for whom the competition is now a better deal, it's because we do not want your business at this time."
No, I would really appreciate it if folks will stick with us, we cannot accomplish this without you all. There needs to be a better solution that duopoly, and a better infrastructure than cable, so I hope you'll stick around.

Cool! So we'll be looking forward to gigabit fiber up here in Humboldt....

Sonic could both keep existing customers and increase prices, but a very clear choice was made not to. Every objection that anyone voiced in this thread was considered beforehand to be acceptable. Going by the posts in it to date, your own approach has uniquely been non-negative to a contrived degree, and far worse has been said of Sonic than anything that came from me. There is a time and a place for everything, and this thread is unambiguously where such negativity goes.

I don't have any problem with Sonic since escaped from AT&T grip. But I feel better if the reason for $10 hike is inflation, instead of fiber expansion. As one member states that the expansion should be on the investors because the infrastructure will become Sonic's property, to increase the company value.
Does Sonic have any thing in the pipe for next hike? I got some for ya:
Fiber optic infrastructure ($10 hike),
next, Build Sonic own satellite ($20 hike)
next, Provide free internet for the whole world ($80 hike + rental equipment)
Thanks! Keep up the good work.

For people in the SF East Bay, if you're intent on jumping ship, please also consider LMI.net instead of comca$t and co.
They're similar to Sonic in that they offer services piggybacking off of AT&T's infrastructure and they're also building out fiber.
More importantly, they also address some of the concerns that are often posted in these forums:
-Option for modem purchase
-Transparency on
Fiber Buildout
I'm in Berkeley and sticking with Sonic for now, but I'm keeping an eye on the fiber buildout.

I just read 24 pages of drivel. Dane in a plain straight to the point with no rosy detours can you tell us why someone receiving camel like speeds should pay the same as someone receiving lightning speeds? Also can you be honest and say straight up what areas will NEVER get fiber? I think you owe your customers that if you are asking them to invest in your dream. Also when I signed up for Fusion I was promised speeds up to 20 mbps on fusion X1 and I notice when I check my service on the upgrade page it now says 10 mbps. Why?
high pay low speed

I pay $70 for minimal service 15 mbps and on average get 10 or less, I tried to reason with sonic but they were having none of it. Im changing my service.

Dissatisfied Customer

Dear Dane and Scott:
I am posting today to express great dissatisfaction and disappointment with Sonic service and sales.
For many years, when calling tech. support for a variety of issues, I have also inquired about the availability of Sonic Fusion in my area, only to be told by your staff that it is unavailable.
Repeatedly, I have asked to be notified when it will be available in west county, and I have been given repeated assurances that I would be notified when becomes available.
I understand that your mission is "the quality local customer service we deliver, and both the value of our service and the values of our company."
I am disappointed in both.
On 23 January, while speaking with a friend and fellow Sonic customer, I learned of Sonic's FTTN offering. I was aghast and surprised, and very disappointed to learn that he has had this service for quite some time.
He told me that by ordering Sonic FTTN, he was able to get improved Mbps and cancel his ATT service, a significant savings.
Something I have been hoping for for years.
So I called and ordered Sonic FTTN.
When I asked the friendly and courteous Sonic salesperson when Sonic FTTN became available, I was told that you have been offering the service for about two years.
I don't know the exact difference between Fusion and FTTN, but the net gain for me is the same: by using FTTN, I can cancel ATT with a savings of about $32 a month, and get improved Mbps.
I am currently a Sonic Fusion DSL customer.
Your salesperson advised me that FTTN would cost $54.69.
My current Type Pro-R Fusion basic DSL costs $54.95.
Pennies difference. Huge savings (cancel ATT) and huge increase in speed: 2.59 down (DSL) vs. about 20 Mbps down (FTTN).
I asked the salesperson for a credit on my Sonic invoice to be applied for the number of months that I could have had FTTN here, had I known about it, and was told that she would refer the matter.
A Sonic Sales supervisor did call then next day and left a message telling me that Sonic was unable to offer me a credit. He also told me that Sonic FTTN service would cost "between $60 to $65 a month.
So here are my questions:
1) What is the cost of Sonic FTTN?
Is it $54.69 / mo. as the friendly salesperson quoted me, or is it "between $60 and 65 / mo." as the Sonic Sales Supervisor quoted me?
2) When did Sonic FTTN first become available in my area? How many months?
3) Why won't Sonic offer me a credit to compensate for the months which I could have cancelled my ATT and switched to FTTN, had I known?
4) Why was I never informed by Sonic Sales that FTTN was available here, in light my MULTIPLE requests for such notification?
5) How many other Sonic Legacy DSL customers are unaware of Sonic FTTN service?
I have nothing but the highest praise for you and for Sonic Tech support, as through the years, your team has helped me with a variety of issues.
But on this one, Dane and Scott, you have totally disappointed me.
Please arrange for someone in Sonic Sales to contact me to arrange for credit due to this oversight.
Sincerely,
Scott
