Now watch them crawl out from under their rocks again....

Never hid under a rock Aman. Always replied with my sonic userid. Standing right here the whole time. What you wrote is in ink on the internet, no matter how you try to rationalize the behaviour.

I welcome intelligent, passionate discourse. Welcome back from the darkside.

Every once in a while there has been mention of what the new interface does on an iOS browser. Honestly, in trying to keep up with this forum I've simply lost track. I've tried the web interface both in Safari and Chrome on an iPad and it really does not work very well. (resizing folder bar, multiple selection etc.) That is not a complaint, just an observation. I remember reading the suggestion that iOS users front their sonic mail with the iOS native mail client. I've been doing that these past few years anyway.

However, sometimes it is easier just to log into webmail from the vastly inferior Safari browser to look something up. Could you remind me what is the current position from sonic on supporting Safari or Chrome on iOS or Mac?

Thanks,
Steve

You may want to turn the preview pane off and just double-click to open messages.
lemuria wrote:Worst of all: can only file emails into personal folders by right clicking message then it took me 16 mouse clicks to file one message and I don't have that many folders. How can anyone call that an improvement ???? Why is there no move message button on the menu bar/toolbar any more?? That is one of the most common actions one does with email.
Was your browser unable to drag messages to a folder? This should literally be a one-click operation. Which version of Firefox are you using?

Kelsey posted earlier today that retaining SquirrelMail is being actively reconsidered.

Doesn't seem to be friendly with iPad. Can't figure out where cursor is for a reply to an email. Page doesn't fit in full screen. Generally not liking it.

OK, I was able to drag and drop to file the message. But I still have to scroll back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Can't the window size be made to be the same size as it is now, without having to scroll?

You mentioned turning off the preview pane. Which one is that? The one where the emails are listed? How do you turn it off? Then how do you turn it back on? I tried looking in "help" but it was no help - only info on identities, keyboard shortcuts, configuring Sonic (not email).

Tried double-clicking the individual message. That got the 'move' button visible and didn't have to scroll but when done reading message, I still have to click 'inbox' to get the message list again. Is there a better way to do it? It's a lot easier to click on a message, read it and go on to another one (the way it is now0 without having to toggle back and forth all the time.

I am unfamiliar with squirrel mail, I use the regular current interface for advanced browsers (IE, Firefox).

Thanks.

I have been using the new webmail application for a few days. I can live with change. I have done that for 82 years so I will adapt. It does not mean that the "new" is better than the "old". I do not see anything that would make me jump for joy at the new application. I see the loss of a lot of simple benefits in the old. Is there any way you can maintain one of the earlier applications along with your new one? I do like the idea of choice in life. Hope you can give us a choice.

Bug in Beta?

I tried deleting a spam message by using the garbage can icon, but landed in a 'print' process, tried to close that and ended stuck at:
https://webmail-beta.sonic.net/?_task=m ... mbox=INBOX

Had to go to Task Manager and close that browser window.

Like Sonic. a lot. Thank you for having this forum. But I do wish . . .

Password.
Once we have Squirrelmail taken away, will the new webmail app have the option to remember our login password? I hope so. When I am not at home, I never "remember password," but at home . . .

Checkboxes.
Yes, I know how to ctrl+click to select multiples (I posted previously re this topic). I do it 8 hours each day at work in Outlook. I realized, after testing the new webmail app for a day or two, that I enjoy one-handed controls when I am at home--I can select one or more boxes, then delete, or do whatever with only my mousing hand. Lazy? Sure. Opposed to change? Sort of. Dislike improvements which are not improvements? Definitely! For example, I also use Yahoo, which thankfully uses checkboxes. But in recent iterations, in order to print, I have to click on stupid "actions," wait for the drop down menu, then select print. Thankfully, the new Sonic webmail doesn't make me do that. But it took away my checkboxes. To be honest, I was testing immediately, but after 2 days, I switched back to Squirrelmail. I know my days are numbered. So, can I add a vote to add checkboxes in a future iteration? Or is it a losing proposition?

Checkboxes part 2.
I also like the option to select multiple emails and moving them the Squirrelmail way. Dragging and dropping can result in accidentally dropping in the wrong folder (very easy to do in Outlook and can be a real drag), and having to ctrl+click, then right-click, then mousing over or clicking on Move To, then waiting for the drop-down is also a drag. (I just tested, and my right-click menu is not working properly at all, though)

Attachments.
I can't figure out if I can download all attachments in an email, or select multiple attachments in an email, to download all at once, rather than one at a time. It would be GREAT if it could do that.

Composing from reading an email.
Is there a Compose function while an email is open? It seems that I have to go back to the Inbox or Mail to compose a new message. Cumbersome :-O (sorry, I may have complained about this one already)

To/From/Subject Cache. Will the new webmail app retain memory? It seems to retain subject lines, but not to/cc. I really appreciate that Squirrelmail feature for my most frequent email recipients.

okay, enough harping for now.
