I would have appreciated hearing about the price increase vs. having to discover it on my own. This is just not good stakeholder engagement - especially customer relations! It compromises trust and reminds me of AT&T who did this regularly. Why not announce this before the fact with explanation? Instead it feels sneaky. Sorry, but really disappointed in Sonic...

I don't understand the rate increase either. It doesn't seem consumer friendly or fair. I live in an old building, and I was told when I signed up that the bandwidth was topped out. When I signed up for Sonic, I also was told that my rate was pretty much locked in. To go $10 a month -- that's a pretty significant price increase % wise for longtime users -- to pay for a big project. That doesn't seem consumer friendly to your existing base. I was very surprised when I saw my bill -- and it didn't seem "Sonic-like." ... I would strongly suggest that you seek your price increases elsewhere ... new customers? Those who are using the service? Not those of us who are longtime customers; don't use the service; and/or a significant rate increase for longtime existing base. ... Just a strong suggestion.

There's a list for when fiber might be available? Where, please?

> LMI
hmmmm ....
Yes it's available!
Your location is about 4500 feet away from your local Central Office.

If you read Dane's statements, this is exactly what Sonic is doing: financing the build-out. But the banks want to see a larger revenue stream before they'll let Sonic borrow more to build out more. Thus the increased rates.

Sonic.net still shows $40/month for fusion service new connection. Is it fair to increase the price for only old customers???

The new rate is for month-to-month contracts, the $40/month is for intros like for those who first subscribe/upgrade to FTTN/fiber and they are on a 12-month contract.

To be fair, Sonic has been offering 10 dollar discounts for a good year at this point. I was a tad bummed that I never got any sort of discount but that's how things are.

I see that LMI is offering service (at the same speed as Sonic with excellent tech support) for $30/mo in 2017 to become $42/mo in 2018. Seems to me like my best option is to switch to LMI and back to Sonic when you have Fusion in Berkeley.
LMI only resells Sonic Fusion service anyway, much the way Sonic FTTN is resold AT&T.

Long story short, I will be leaving Sonic. The continue degrading Fusion service, and increase in cost doesn't justify this service anymore. I will be jumping to ATT FTTN. If Sonic Fiber ever reach my house, then I'll probably switch back.
