Has there been any news or status update on undergrounding of Sonic Fiber in Grizzly Peak/Summit UUD48? I just noticed this was posted recently:

We were wondering about status too, as the project remains "TBD" on the City's page at https://www.cityofberkeley.info/Public_ ... ricts.aspx

It will not be feasible for Sonic to join PG&E's project, but we will consider re-building the network using microtrenching, which would likely best be done after PG&E's trenching work and paving patch repair is complete but prior to any paving overlay. We will have to discuss this with City of Berkeley Public Works as this project moves toward execution to determine if it's something they'd support.

Dane, thanks for the quick reply. What's the best way to support Sonic's efforts? Should residents reach out to our Berkeley Councilmembers?

No, that would not be necessary. We're in touch with the right folks in Public Works, and we'll make sure we stay on top of the construction timing that'd be necessary if we're going to proceed.
