Still needs a cert. I get a warning every time I log in.

Still beta, but very stable and ready for production apart from a plugin to integrate Fusion Voice MWI updates to work correctly. We're working on it now but it is taking a little longer than expected to wrap up (and quite a bit longer to get to it in the first place.) Once it is finished, we'll start the migration.

Otherwise, beyond the SSL certificate key mismatch (functionally cosmetic) there's nothing wrong with using it now. As far as the cert error that the other poster mentions, you should be able to store the exception permanently in your client.

Great. Thanks for the info. I'll let you guys know if we experience any problems.

I've just finished deploying a custom plugin for the new servers to keep MWI in sync when using the test IMAP cluster. Once this has proven to be stable we're going to start working on a migration plan.

So what is the new imap going to offer as far as new features/improvements/etc...?

Primarily it is going to provide better performance. And even better performance - both in terms of scalability for us and interactive performance for users. Beyond this, there are a number of other features that become possible on the new platform that aren't possible in our IMAP services today.

So if I wanted to try out the beta server. Would I be able to do it with just one of our email accounts? Or does the whole account with all email accounts get switched over to the new imap?

Dan, each mail account's settings are unique in this case. You might want to refer back up to my original post for details but the gist is that this is transparent to the end user the only caveat being that you wouldn't want to swap back and forth between the old and new service or have on user logged into both the old and new cluster at the same time. You wouldn't loose any mail but the servers would get confused and would probably loose ancillary information like user supplied tags.

Thanks for the quick response kcg. Sorry, I did read the first post but was still a little confused about it. But thanks for clearing it up. Next week I'll put a client on the new server and see how it goes.

Given the cert used on imapd.sonic.net is for imap.sonic.net, how would I connect Outlook for Windows to this host? It just hangs without any opportunity to trust the cert.

thanks,

Graham
