No I mean just putting the email address of the mailing list in. It only recognizes the sender address.

Do you mean importing a file and having that read as a whitelist?
I thought he meant this.

What had me confused is that mailing lists are done by email addresses which can be whitelisted - so I was curious why he couldn't just whitelist the email address that the mailing list is from. The address is almost always in the header of a message, so I didn't get why that couldn't be whitelisted.

Am I missing something?

I guess by "whitelisting" I meant clicking the link that whitelists automatically. It doesn't pull the To: or CC: addresses, just the From: one. I didn't even think about doing it manually, which is the obvious answer. Can the SpamAssassin look for all addresses in an email? Or just the From:?

I think the one you are looking for is "More Spam Too" in the "more lists" section of the tools.

Some mailing lists are configured such that each message appears "from" the list's address, but others are configured that each message appears to be "from" the person who wrote it.

But Kelsey's pointer is what the OP is seeking. Since all messages distributed by the list have to be sent to the list's submission address, that address can be entered as a "More Spam To" (or "Whitelist To") under More Lists so that any sender's address should be treated as whitelisted.

Yes, thanks, somehow I missed that. I'll check it out.
