Man the amount of hate in some of the posts is astounding ... While I understand people voicing their opinions and being dissatisfied at Dane's decision ... as soon as it went into personal insults your argument lost all validity in my eyes.

Dane I see what you are trying to do and as a long term customer and one of the " haves " I will support the build out for the " have nots " even though a lot of " have nots " have expressed that they won't ... maybe they are " selfish " as one of the posters wrote about himself or maybe they don't see any value in them paying more and getting nothing in return for their direct benefit ( I guess true altruism of helping others achieve greatness of Fiber is dead ) and to be honest I can't blame them for this decision although I wish they would see the increase in the way I see it a way to help those who don't have fiber but are on the list of possible build out to achieve that dream of fast speed ... said that no matter what happens I am sticking for the long run and will support the " have nots " with my 10$ .

Altruism only goes so far. Would you expect someone living in an area with deteriorating copper infrastructure to be happy about subsidizing the build-out of fiber in another neighborhood - but not ever their own? This is a realistic scenario for some, and Dane has admitted to it. For example, areas that have or will be getting gigabit service (regardless of affordability) from another ISP (whether it be Google, AT&T, or Comcast) will not be targets of Sonic fiber expansion. Those areas will continue to be under-served by Sonic, along with other areas that have poor Sonic uptake.

As much as you say you understand the plight of the less fortunate - and have openly sympathized with some of them - you continue to insinuate that they are either selfish or don't care about their neighbors, and there is an air of "holier than thou" attitude in your posts. Although that may be the case for some, your choice of words and intonation may instigate further agitation. I am as disgusted by the lack of civility in some of the posts as you are, but I would ask you to reflect on your own words and how they may be perceived by others. Voicing your support is great, but you can do so without inadvertently insulting others, as that can also tarnish Sonic's reputation! As disappointed and critical of Dane's decision as I am, I continue to wish Sonic success, as they are still a better ISP for many others.

I think one of the biggest factors for myself is that unlike Comcast and AT&T, I feel like my money is going into something productive people can benefit from, instead of some CEO's pocket.

On the other hand, I'm willing to spend a little extra cash for things I feel are worth it. I don't penny pinch often.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Fiber subscribers will not see a price increase (hence the frustration)

"Fusion X1 of all forms (ADSL2+, VDSL2, FTTN, Fiber) will increase from the current rate of $40 monthly to a new rate of $50."
Excelsior, Sonic Fiber

The increase will affect Fiber as well from 40$ to 50$

I will take that under consideration in my next posts , If I came off as condescending I apologize as it was not my intent .

I can understand the need for the price increase. However, this caught me off guard. I don't recall getting any correspondence about this so assumed it was a billing error. Thankfully, I didn't waste support time.

I think when news like this is unexpected, we tend to take a negative view. It immediately brought back the recent phone outage I had, where I had to pay because I had to use my cell phone. My cell phone plan isn't unlimited.

And if the company needs to pare expenses (and who doesn't), I would think shuttering the web hosting/personal pages would be a good start. In my work, I've seen an increase in attacks from "free" type services. I think people set up a site and forget about it, leaving it vulnerable for people to exploit. Unless, you specialize in a certain area, I don't see companies making money off this type of service.

The increase is fine with me; that was expected. For FTTH customers who returned the modem TCO goes from $52.49/month to around $65/month once the 1 year term is over. Oh well...

I know you guys want to deliver the best service at a reasonable price. However, my area has no roadmap for fiber or other upgrades. I understand you are going to wire up SF first but us little people need support too. I'm at 3200ft from the CO and only one option with your services - and this hasn't changed in years. Your techs even confirmed upgrading my modem wouldn't get me any higher speeds.

It's hard to not look at other services on the market. I have better Speedtest ratings on my T-Mobile data service on my phone (nothing fancy) vs the Fusion service.

Please re-evaluate this plan and if you are going to treat customers like "investors" for your grand plan - then let us in on the plans. Am I waiting 3yrs for fiber to maybe come to my area? Looking forward to more transparency, and better streaming rates.
