GTA V is about to be released for PC. I really am looking towards a speed boost to download 65GB.

As far as I can tell, they don't even have their VDSL available in every CO yet. If I check an address here in Burlingame that's 2,000ft or closer, it still only offers the 20Mbps ADSL2+ speed estimate.

Yes, the interfaces still being rolled out. We have completed all of the large and high-run-rate COs in Northern CA, but we still have over 100 COs still pending.

Are you able to share a revised timeline for the VDSL2 upgrade of those remaining COs? I'm especially interested in a date for the Burlingame one(s).

And just out of curiosity, how many COs in total does Sonic operate? (If you are at liberty to share this information.)

You have 6m-x1-adsl-dynamic service. A 6mbps ADSL1 circuit with a dynamic IP address provided by AT&T.

The best prospect you have of getting over 6mbps in the near future is to change locations. You are served by ADSL1 equipment that we have no particular reason to expect will be upgraded to VDSL or VDSL2.

Please note that I am specifically referring to your location, the location where you previously had legacy ADSL1 and now have FTTN ADSL1, not speaking generally about the state of broadband deployed in some theoretical area that an unknown future visitor to this forum may be interested in.

Any update on the timeframe for the Inner Richmond in SF? Sounds like some COs are already getting upgraded?

All SF COs now have VDSL2 capability, and if you are close to the CO (under 4,000ft), support can coordinate a migration for you. http://sonic.net/support/cba

We're 4035 feet away from the CO (Clement and 19th in the Richmond) according to the tool and running Fusion DSL right now. Called a couple weeks ago and we were not eligible for VDSL2 - will we be now? Thanks Dane!

No, VDSL2 only delivers gains at shorter distances. An X2 (bonding) upgrade would be the better upgrade path in your case.

I talked with support today, and having them set it up was very easy. Looking forward to making the switch. Not sure if it was mentioned elsewhere, but rental of the new modem is something like $9.95/month. I already had my own ADSL modem, so it's a significant extra expense, but I imagine it'll be more than worth it.
