Thanks to virtualmike, Kelsey, and Bobrk for bringing me up to date on the use of a (in this case iOS) native mail client for connecting to multiple email accounts.

> using your other providers POP/IMAP client support - meaning have them check and download your sonic email rather than having us forward it. This is likely to be a more reliable and trouble free configuration.

Thanks for that, too. It does make more sense than the forwarding I asked about.

SHOCKING NEWS!
Wonderful Kelsey Cummings is that anonymous System Architect "kgc"! I'm shocked and flabbergasted! He used to be such a terrific, always helpful guy -- and now he's turned into ruthless, bullheaded, arrogant, megalomaniacal Sonic-Hitler! What a shame. Kelsey -- or must I now call you "Herr Obersturmführer Cummings"? -- would it *kill* you to keep SquirrelMail alive for us lo-tech clodhoppers?

John: Ah. Connect with the SSH client of your preference to shell.sonic.net. Issue the command "cd $MAIL" to gain direct access to your mail spool. New messages will be in the ".new" directory, old messages will be in ".cur"

That's, like, *cool*, dude. Wonderful geek-talk comprehensible only to other geeks. Even if *I* could, it would not help all the other lo-tech "regulars" who like me love and need SquirrelMail (currently on death row).

I asked earlier about human-language step-by-step instructions, not geeky lingo. Could you do that for all of us peasants?

(1) What's an SSH client? (Googling didn't help much). I use Netscape 4.77 and Int.Expl. 5.1.7 for mail, newsgroups, and the Web.

(2) How do I connect to "shell.sonic.net"? I tried <http://www.shell.sonic.net> and <http://shell.sonic.net>. No luck.

(3) How do I issue the command "cd $MAIL"?

(4) If I do get to the ".new" directory, will I be able to select and delete all the spam and other junk messages?

John: If you knew me better you'd know I'm one of the cruelest and most capricious (and dashingly handsome) people here, but I'm flattered.

If you are indeed cruel and capricious, John, you could become Obersturmführer Cummings's right hand. Birds of a feather and all that.

Your dashing handsomeness sounds so gay. No, thanks.

John, that's just cruel. Throw the guy a bone.

Advice to aman: stick to GUI clients if you're only comfortable with a web browser. UNIX is not for the faint of heart. But if you don't mind, well knock yourself out.

I wondered how long until Godwin's Law would take effect.

Since I can't use the older mail client after the 22nd and I am NOT 30 anymore so 1024x768 is good for me. If you could change the "logoff" link to the LEFT side so I wouldn't have to use scroll bars (what a pain) to get to it on the right side would be super. Better yet, a shortcut key would be ok also. Please consider.

I found it chunky and slow, but I will play with it awhile and see if I begin liking it better. I also couldn't figure out how to choose multiple emails to delete?

Us older folks are going to have a lot of trouble with the new application. Is there no way you can give us an option to continue with the old system? I find the new one far more complicated, less user friendly. I'm devastated!

WHY don't the Sonic.net owners (Dane and Scott) answer *important* questions, mine and such as Guest Ben's (p. 9, April 10, 9:33 p.m.)?

The most important question, asked by a growing number of loyal and now very unhappy customers is: WHY can't you keep SquirrelMail as an alternative to the new Webmail-beta (a.k.a. bloated & flawed Wundermail)? WHY? WHY? WHY?

To be totally ignored makes us feel like dirt.

That's another post John Fitzgerald should pass on to Dane and Scott.

You can select multiple messages at the same time using the shift or control key on your keyboard. You can't click-and-drag to select multiple messages at once, but otherwise it's like selecting multiple files in a GUI operating system.

Hrm, something I just noticed - In beta webmail, I do not get a prompt asking me if I'd like to save my password in Firefox 20 on OSX, or Chrome 27 on Fedora 18. Would be nice not to have to type my password in every time. I missed if this was already addressed in all the hitlerchat.
