It's not a "grass roots campaign" -- it's a formal objection. The objection almost certainly originated with AT&T, and the scheduling of hearing is probably being driven by the amount of lobbying money AT&T spends every year.

This isn't rocket science, folks.

Whups! that'll teach me to read the date stamps before I reply. Congrats on (finally) getting approval!

I'm at 41st Ave. and Santiago St. Is that Zone 4? What are plans for that zone?

Oh how painful. I'm at 31st and Kirkham and I appear to be just 2 telephone poles away from Zone 1. Congrats though on getting approval - I can't wait!

If this succeeds, when do you think rollout would occur in nearby neighborhoods like Miraloma Park? 2-3 years? I have 60 Mbps service right now but I would dump Comcast in a second for 1 Gbps at $70. I pay more than that now. Also, any insight as to when Docsis 3.1 modems might roll out?

We're in Service Area 8, just south of your current test in SA-1. Would this imply that we'll get Sonic fiber about a decade from now, with each area being rolled out in numerical order? Or, will you be rolling out FTTN based on geographic locations, with SA-2,-6,-7 and -8 the next likely targets within the 2-4 year time-frame?

Would you at least speculate on the calendar year by which you'd like to be able to offer fiber to ALL of San Francisco? E.g. "no later than 4Q2017"? We'd like to get a handle on the rough, approximate, ballpark time guesstimate.

It'd be ridiculous to hold you to a firm date, because it's not possible to plan roll-outs like this accurately, even under the best of circumstances. But Sonic seems to be run by smart people who communicating well with customers. Sonic seems to have some principles, unlike its awful competitors. BTW, please don't waste money on lobbyists to influence politicians like AT&T and Comcrap do: just grow it organically so it's not pre-compromised on arrival, like it seems you're doing.

It seems obvious from reading the forums that your customers are begging for some serious documentation of what's been accomplished (toot your horn a bit! we won't mind!), what's being done, what you plan to do next — and roughly when!

High-tech businesses like ours, (currently) small but with zillions in potential, would be radically empowered by affordable fiber connectivity that makes it possible for us to compete with the foreign high-tech centers (Seoul, Tokyo, etc) that all have sizzling-fast bandwidth today. We need to plan for things that require lots of advance thinking, and bandwidth is a super-critical criterion. All of our developers want to remain in SF, so moving to Google, Kansas isn't an option for us. We're not about to do business with the criminals at Comcrud again (phooey on those phoneys!), but meanwhile, we can't launch our Big Idea over a Fusion line at 3.52 Mbps. We're desperate!

So, we're committed to sticking with Sonic on principle, and we want to help in a constructive way, but we also need at least some vague hand-waving, PLEASE!

PS: we consider it unfortunate that you don't email all Sonic customers in SF to notify them of any hearing dates/locations where Customers can support you, because we would have sent our CTO to speak on your behalf.

I am guessing that rollout will begin in zone 1 in about half a years time.

As for when other zones will get it.. who knows. I know that I've seen ATT getting a lot more aggressive in my area and will put up TWO ground level boxes for u-verse soon. I've seen the notices, and if sonic isn't going to move on it soon, they'll be locked out because my neighborhood isn't going to want these boxes lining the sidewalk. They can tolerate one or two, and it looks like it'll be ATT boxes.

Agreed about the various comments that ask Sonic to notify customers of any upcoming hearings.

Most Sonic customers are more or less advocates of a brighter future. Where we have real competition and 21st century internet speeds. We're already paying more than 'necessary' for our current connection. I do not want this to be in vain.

The least i'd like to do is go to these public hearings. Just let us know what to do.
