Ah. Connect with the SSH client of your preference to shell.sonic.net. Issue the command "cd $MAIL" to gain direct access to your mail spool. New messages will be in the ".new" directory, old messages will be in ".cur"
I wouldn't expect this to be a practical alternative for your purposes, so I had refrained from suggesting it.
