I bought one of the basic Motorola AT&T modems on Ebay as a backup to my ZTE for $11 shipped. I reconfigured it as described in the Sonic wiki and it works fine.
I have a recent ATT-supplied Pace 4111N DSL Gateway modem/router. Can this modem/router be reconfigured to be used with your service?
Yes. The 4111N modem is rated for ADSL2+, so should work even at the fastest Fusion speeds.
The only thing you will need to change is the WAN connection from PPPoE to dynamic DHCP.

Thanks!
Would the TP-Link TD-8817 modem work with Sonic's(1) Fusion, (2) the four tiers of DSL, i.e. Elite to Basic? Thanks.
Yes, that's a modern ADSL2+ modem, so it'll work with everything.Guest wrote:Would the TP-Link TD-8817 modem work with Sonic's(1) Fusion, (2) the four tiers of DSL, i.e. Elite to Basic? Thanks.

That's what you call a BufferOverFlow due to cheap design;
2wire determinants how fast your land line is(MBs) it then make a calculation base on requested packets to be transmuted / transferred / received and then it puts (base on speed and request of packets) in to a Que(memory) so that switch ports(switch circuit) don't get overly congested and QoS to be exercised in SOMEWHAT full effect.
But there is a down fall(a pit) of it and it is
2wire produce modems with insufficient memory and their firmware share cpu cycles not like a reserve base usage (as many good modems/DTE equipments devices do)
2wire has improved over time but it only applies to higher end models
Seems to be the place to ask about possible replacements for my 2Wire gateway: how about the NETGEAR DGN2000-100NAR? It says it supports "WAN (ADSL): ITU 992.1 (G.dmt) Annex A, ITU 992.2 (G.lite), ITU 992.3 ADSL2 (G.dmt.bis), ITU 992.5 ADSL2+ ." Should work?
Yes, that will likely be fine. You may need to configure it for DHCP, our IP allocation setup.jakewidman wrote:Seems to be the place to ask about possible replacements for my 2Wire gateway: how about the NETGEAR DGN2000-100NAR? An alternative would be to opt in to our new equipment rental option, $6.50 per month gets you a supported unit, with future automated updates to support things like IPv6 on our network.
