tikvah wrote:Hi, I was wondering if you could please send full text with the email notifications? (by default or by choice) Especially for very active topics, it is such a PITA to have to log in every time because if you don't you 1) don't know what the reply says and 2) won't get any more notifications for that topic. I just want emails (every email, unless I unsub from the topic) so I can follow it easily. Or at least the choice to do so. Does your new system do this?
Thanks!
So I searched around yesterday and the couple of mods I'd previously seen to send post content in subscription notifications are for phpBB 3.0 and have not been ported to 3.1 which we've upgraded to. Despite phpBB 3.1 being about a year and a half old, it lacks the number of mods 3.0 has. The mod system has totally changed so 3.0 mods are not compatible with 3.1.
The closest thing I could find was one called
Digests which is in release-candidate status but doesn't do exactly what you want. At best you can set up daily emails at a chosen time where you'll receive an email with a summary of postings made on the forum or boards of your choice.
Unfortunately I looked around on the mod forums and don't see anything in development for including post content in subscription emails

I added a tooltip to it to display "First Unread Post". It's anyone's best guess what it does without that LOL. Thanks again.

Why is the font of quoted text so much larger than the reply post itself?

Appears to just be a side effect of the theme being built from Twitter Bootstrap CSS which uses a giant font for blockquotes.
We can easily change this though. Do you prefer the same size as post text, or even smaller for quotes? Old version they were the same size, but fonts are 14px now, blockquotes 17.5px so we could safely do 12px for quote text so it takes up less space or just drop it to 14 like regular text.

Mismatched font sizes look goofy. I'd just make them equal at 14.

Thanks for checking. How odd that a new version reduces features, though it's not exactly uncommon.
I poked around and haven't found what you suggested. In the tool icon for this topic, there is no edit function. I unsubscribed from the topic then resubscribed, no choices available, just on or off.
Next I went to User Settings. Under Board Preferences: Edit Notification Options there are some choices. I am not sure what "Notifications" means as a delivery choice and how it is different from the other choice, "Email." But since I can choose both at once, I've upgraded my notifications to get both at all times. I doubt it will make a difference as "Someone replies to a topic to which you are subscribed" already had both boxes checked.
In User Settings there is also Overview: Manage Notifications, but there are no choices to make there.
So maybe this is impossible. I wish there was a way to turn off the business of only sending one notification until the person logs in. In addition to putting the text of the comment in the email. Two separate things.
Thanks.

Thanks, and you're welcome. However, for some reason, I'm not seeing it. I see the tooltip for last post, though. ...cheers!

PS. What is comboot.io? My browser warns me that the forum runs scripts from there. ...thanks!
