I've been using some free IPV6 usenet servers as a backup to the Sonic one. Sonic provides free IPV6 tunnels. It's worked great for me so far! Googling "free ipv6 usenet" will return a bunch of them.

appreciate the thought -- I looked at DSLReports' index for IPv6 usenet and it looks like it can take a lot of time, and I wonder about security/privacy. The theme there seems to be 'you get what you pay for'
So I'd sure welcome Sonic making the effort to figure this one out and recommend a method.

I do, though, appreciate Dane's frankly telling us the old servers will die when they die rather than holding out false hope.

Just rather be helped find an alternative that's up to the standards Sonic has shown can work rather than go blundering out and fall into something run by somebody else.

Aside -- Dane, have you ever thought of selling any part of the company to us customers?

I am another usenet user that has been using the free IPV6 servers for backup to the Sonic one. I have not enabled the IPV6 tunneling yet and I haven't looked if I have to do anything else after enabling it. But it may be a better way than my current run a batch file and have Win7 do the tunneling.

I was hoping that it might be kept alive at least for text-only groups...

Patty, we weren't aware that anyone was having issues accessing the news server. There's a problem that we observed but we thought it was limited to our monitoring - we have a pretty good idea of what it is and will get it fixed up shortly.

Thanks, I've been noticing the problem too, and had just figured it was quietly degrading without support.
