its only changed when the lease wasn't renewed after it expired (due to power outage/similar)

Thank you for your reply, sabits. It seems that I could potentially have a good, strong backup power supply for my ONT and router, and maybe go for months or more without changing IP addresses.

IP changed with the latest (and hopefully FINAL) router swap with 10G interfaces. Will advise if it changes with just reboots and the like later.

A few moons later, still same IP.

FB groups have reported a few Xfinity outages nearby in the interim.

IP has finally changed, wasn't due to reboot of router on my side.

Have you considered setting up a dynamic DNS client to keep a dns record up to date with your current IP? That's what I do, haven't noticed any issues yet.

IPsec doesn't use DNS, dynamic or otherwise.

Can you do IPSec over IPv6? Sonics v6 tunnel might have a more stable IP range. If that's also not stable, https://tunnelbroker.net provides free static ipv6 ranges, as well as an API to keep your v4 endpoint address up-to-date.
