A while ago I had U-verse VDSL running over Coax with one of these type of baluns:

It worked quite well, and it looks like the balun is ADSL2+ compatible as well.

Update: I installed two baluns at both ends of the coax and my link speed increased from 8Mbps to 11Mbps. Not too bad. I actually bought two sets of cheap video camera baluns from eBay. The first set decreased my link rate to 4Mbps. The balun bandwidth is pretty important, to no surprise. Maybe I could get more speed with a quality set of baluns.

These look perfect, but I can't find them anywhere:

Anybody know who stocks them?

When I get bored I will try the POE/Ethernet idea.

Update2: I called Sonic tech support (awesome as always) and they optimized the line and added interleaving. Ping is 28ms, but I am now up to a super stable 13.3Mbps. Yay. I will get the to 20Mbps eventually...

Here's the actual balun I have: http://polpo.org/tmp/balun.jpg
But it seems even more elusive than the Bourns one... just a few stale results on Google for the part number.

I'd be glad to send it to you as I have no use for it.
