It is now 2025, and they are still doing this. If you say anything, you get told things like "Well maybe you should just start using the phone line then," or "We can't tell you exactly what your bill will be because fees are different from location to location," neither of which address the actual problems. No matter where you complain, a Sonic spokesperson will get into the comments and constantly move the goalposts till you give up in frustration. When problematic companies like T-Mobile can have an asterisk with the information that their service either "includes all taxes and fees" or "does not include taxes and fees," then why can't Sonic???

Problem #1: Your customers want the option to NOT have a phone line with their service
Problem #2: Your customers would like to know UP FRONT if the (now) $50/month includes taxes and fees, or doesn't include taxes and fees
Problem #3: If your (now) $50/month DOES NOT include taxes and fees, then it isn't $50/month, and SAYING it's $50/month is misleading

You present yourselves as an alternative to AT&T/Comcast that has integrity, but all this moving of the goalposts and misleading marketing doesn't model integrity, it models dirty practices.

It's not so much that you're paying $10 extra,
as Sonic has multiple reasons to offer a bundle and only a bundle, part of which you're not using.

Broadband providers are SUPPOSED to hide all the fine print on the side of their trucks. No, wait,
on the truth social label:

I agree with the OP here. I too purchased Sonic internet for the $49.99 introductory price, and $59.99 after 12 months. What I didn't expect was a a $69 bill. I don't have a problem paying government taxes on internet, but these are not taxes on internet service. They are VOIP taxes.

There is no technical requirement that fiber internet needs to have a to have a phone line associated. But by including this "free phone number" service, in addition to my internet, Sonic has added $19 of VOIP taxes to my $49.99 Fiber Internet. That's a 38% increase in my bill!

I'm paying taxes for a VOIP phone line that:
1. I don't want and will not use
2. Is not required to deliver fiber internet

If Sonic refuses to remove the phone line, then I agree, it is deceptive advertising to suggest $49.99 or even $59.99 price point is achievable. Sonic could just as easily remove the VOIP service so that I'm not charged for these taxes, and deliver my 49.99/59.99 Fiber Internet as advertised.

This is the breakdown of the 38% increase in my bill because of the "free" added on VOIP service :
