There is no scarcity of IPv6 addresses. In fact, there is enough to give every human on earth a /56 and have quite a few left over.

Why are the IPv6 allocations shuffled at random any time a port goes up or down? Can we please reconsider this and configure them to be persistent?

If you aren't able to provide consistent addresses, then I'll be forced to cancel my service and return to my previous provider.

This comes up a lot. viewtopic.php?t=18132 is probably one of the better threads touching on it; in particular, see the post by matt.kinkele (it's an artifact of their current DHCP server architecture that they hope to fix some day).

The advice in that thread is to configure your router's DHCP client so that it does not send a DHCP Release when it shuts down an interface.

Hello,

Thank you Sommerfeld for providing the link to that post. Matt's response in that thread does a great job at explaining the situation. IPv6 is something we are constantly working on right now so hopefully we will have some good news regarding this topic in the near future. If you have any further questions please let us know! I hope you have a great rest of your day.
Thank you,
Max
