Looking forward to installation on Vegas Avenue in Castro Valley this month.
+1 vote for SFP+ interface to keep my MikroTik equipment cool and quiet.

Ain't gonna happen. Sonic provides an Adtran 622v, and they don't allow customer-owned ONTs. The Adtran 622v only has 10GBase-T and 1GBase-T jacks, and the 1GBase-T comes disabled.conradpino wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 2:20 pm Looking forward to installation on Vegas Avenue in Castro Valley this month.

What I like about Sonic is their willingness to lead the market rather than just react to competitors.
Agreed, SFP+ won't happen until big 10G fiber deployments are completed and Adtran has good SFP+ replacement.
I want Dane to know some customers will pay the device retail cost and installation charge to get SFP+ replacement.
I use and recommend the Amazon Eero Max 7. It's a mighty wireless router that has two 10Gb copper Ethernet ports on it. It is a perfect match for the Sonic connection that's 10Gb both up and down. It plugged right into the Sonic ONT (the fiber modem) and worked right from day one.smbrannon wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 11:05 pm You need a router with at least two 10Gb ports on it, and a wired 10Gb or WiFi 7 connection between your machine and the router. Else, you aren't going to be getting anything near 10Gb. In other words, almost everyone will need to upgrade their wired and wireless infrastructure to take full advantage of Sonic's 10Gb fibre.
We have been in "Planning" status for 6 months now, while 10Gbps fiber has already been on main road for about as many months.goddijns wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:36 pm Thanks, @klui
Great post with informative details. Hoping they'll feed the fiber line to the incoming network box as well, as i would like to plug fiber straight from ONT into my Unifi gateway to get the 10Gbps connection. At least, that is assuming that the Sonic ONT still has built-in modem, as I read somewhere. But would like to have it next to my network-/server rack as well
Hoping to get an update from @dane or someone at Sonic soon with regards to timeline. But happy to hear your experience has been good so far.
Our small 10-home community has underground utilities, but Sonic just doesn't bother to check if there is any additional room for their drop to our house in existing trenches/pipes underground. And that while technicians are still on the street regularly...
May have to sign up for AT&T Fiber at this rate, although I really don't want to..
Why is it so hard to have a technician that is already closeby check for existing space for Sonic drop underground, @dane ? If there is, they can hook me up. If there is not, Sonic should be able to give me a better and more realistic timeline to get me hooked up.
