I'm not too far from you, just on Lincoln in the general vicinity of the Famous Deli Market & Bakery. So hopefully that's a good sign your wait won't be much longer either!

Although I suppose I shouldn't get too excited yet. Having an active network is a necessary first step, but it remains to be seen how long it will take before they can get it installed and running in my home. Hopefully not long, but we'll see!

Massive thanks for the update. FWIW - I'd be willing to get out there with their techs to stop traffic if it would help speed things along. LFG!

Just an update, I got the email that service was active in my area on Jan 31 and just had it installed today, Feb 5. San Rafael, Union St near Belle Ave intersection. I saw ~4 Sonic install trucks on our street today so clearly a lot of neighbors had it installed around the same time. The installer was amazing and routed the wires cleanly through my garage and into the house where I already had my router setup.

Since I started this topic, I guess I should weigh in. I got my email notification on the 3rd for a 9 February install. I'm in the north Lincoln vicinity. Saw the flurry of installation trucks on Mountain View and Grand in the Dominican area yesterday afternoon (5 Feb., 15:30ish).

Still waiting on the fiber drop that is the pre-installation procedure. We spoke to one of the workers on Mt.View yesterday and she said the drop may even happen on the day of the install.

The Sonic team has been activating lots of network in San Rafael, so it's awesome to see it finally across the finish line. I wish these things could be built more rapidly, but permitting issues are causing problems more and more frequently these days.

Once you do get connected and have a chance to experience the service, please do spread the word to all of your neighbors that it's finally arrived and it's time for them to switch to Sonic! You can use our referral program to earn service credits, at: https://www.sonic.com/referrals

Got set up here as well - had an initial hiccup with the fiber connection at the terminal going bad the night after the install, but they got a tech out to fix it fairly promptly and we haven't had any issues since. Feels good to finally leave Comcast behind.

Thanks for leaning into the forum, remaining active, and pushing as hard as you can. We appreciate it.

OK, late to my (maybe) final post on this topic. My install was two weeks ago. It went like this:

My house is on a cul-de-sac, with a perpendicular through-road (TR hereinafter) on the other side of where my street ends. There are utility poles on the cul-de-sac and on the TR. In my original post I noted that the fiber line was added on the TR.

Fast forward over a year and my fiber drop day came. After consulting with me, the drop team ran a fiber from the TR pole to the cul-de-sac pole and then from that latter pole to the house. This is the pole my electrical and old copper phone line ran from.

On the next day a Sonic Tech came out and installed the ONT in my office, where the old phone line terminated. He then finished the fiber run from the drop point to the point of entry of the old phone line and across my crawl space to the ONT.

So, after two weeks, what's the verdict.

I need a PC, router and switch(es?) with at least 2.5Gbs internet. My speed tests show about 930Mbs downstream and upstream times. This is inline with other posts I have seen, given the hardware I currently use. I have this 10Gbs fire hose running through a 1Gbs garden hose at the moment. But I can't justify replacing hardware to use more bandwidth than I currently need. First world problems.

Fiber was the promise Sonic made to all when I signed up over a decade ago. It took longer than I might have hoped, but I never regretted switching from AT&T. With full Sonic end-to-end internet access (I was previously on Sonic over AT&T supplied FTTN), I no longer feel the need to use the Sonic VPN 24/7.

Lastly, I want to give a shout-out to the drop team and especially to Kevin who completed the install. It was great work all around.

Thanks for the ongoing updates. I'm going to have to cancel service and get something faster. If Fiber ever launches here, I'll check out Sonic again. Good luck!

No need to cancel your pre-order, just do whatever you need to meanwhile and then once the fiber install is scheduled, decide your path. Bear in mind the limited internet service early term fee payoff credit that is available if you’re cancelling another provider to switch to Sonic. Or even try to fiber for a month free, there’s no obligation. You’ll find it to be faster than cable etc and can cancel that once you’ve proven the fiber out.
