Got service installed last week. The installer gave me the option of the standard $10 eero router or the $20 eero router. He ensured me the upgraded version would cover all the rooms in my house "no problem". I even asked if an extender was necessary and he told me no. Since install I have been having poor connection and/or slow speeds at the furthest rooms of the house. The router is in a centralized location, same as my xfinity was, and used to have no issue. I've contacted support and they made a few no brainer suggestions like "move closer to the router" or "add a second eero". My question is, should Sonic be responsible for supplying this equipment since the original equipment is not sufficient? Do you guys use the Eero router or buy an aftermarket?

Assuming your "$20 eero router" is the eero Max 7, its range seems a bit "middle of the road".

Sorry to hear about the wi-fi issues you're having. I took a look at the speed test history on your Eero network and I'm seeing a large range between the highest and lowest values so there might be a power issue with it or something. I suggest we try swapping the Eero Max 7 out for two Eero Pro 6E devices. The monthly cost would be the same, but you would get a large wi-fi signal range. I'd be happy to ship those out if you'd like to see if that will make a difference. I can take care of that over e-mail, or I could set up a call back to have a Technical Support representative call you at a time that's convenient for you.

Are all devices affected by slow transfer speed in that location? It could be that some older devices only do older wifi standards.
Is there any electrical noise source in the room where you get poor speed?

Is eero working on 2.4 or 5 GHz band or both? 2.4 band typically has lower speed but travels farther. However in a city environment, the 2.4 GHz band typically has only 3 channels usable (out of 11 before channels overlap) whilst 5 GHz band has more non overlapping channels.
You can try to force using a specific band or the other and compare.
You can also try to use a narrower channel to reduce interference with other channels (to set on the router)

If you're comfortable installing and maintaining your own gear you can ditch the monthly rental fee and go with your own router/wifi equipment. I recommend avoiding mesh whenever possible and instead going with wired access points for best performance depending on the size and construction material of your home. However, if you run into issues Sonic support won't support the equipment, configuration, etc. unless its a service delivery issue.

If you're not comfortable maintaining your own equipment then try adjusting the eero's settings (assuming its not a hardware issue with the unit) or test the offered eero pro 6e as Sonic support suggested above. Perhaps some helpful reading below.
