Anyone got 10Gb using Ubiquiti's UDR7?

Exactly what says on the tin. I updated from a Ubiquiti UDM that could only achieve 900 Mbps to a UDR7 and even though I'm connecting from the Sonic 10Gb RJ45 port to the UDR7 SFP+10Gb port through a transceiver I'm only seeing 3Gbps according to the speedtest running from the UDR7 itself.

Has anyone achieved 10Gb through a UDR7?

What about speedtest results from a device that's on a 10gbe just to rule out issues with the built in speedtest reaching higher than that. Is this with DPI and such features on or off?

Is your test from a computer connected to the router with 10G Ethernet, or are you referring to the speed test the router will run itself? If the latter, we’ve often seen routers with inadequate onboard resources to actually test at the speed they can route.

The reason for this is that routing of packets happens in dedicated hardware, at “wire speed”. But a speed test uses the CPU, a slower resource than a he forwarding engine. The CPU will also also become a bottleneck when enabling filtering or inspection. Most folks with other, slower ISPs won’t see an issue when the CPU can manage 2-4Gbps, but for Sonic customers, this would be a huge loss of connection performance.

The UDR7 only has one 10Gbps port, the rest are 2.5Gbps and with IDS/IPS enabled the spec says the max throughput is 2.3 Gbps. With that disabled and using a recent client device with 2x2 6GHz capability you could see up to 5.7Gbps throughput (according to the Ubiquiti spec page). To get ~10Gbps throughput you need something like the UCG-fiber or UXG-fiber with IDS/IPS disabled (which is pretty amazing performance for $279), to get 10Gbps with IDS/IPS I'm not sure if there are any similarly priced options. ~$2k for EFG gets ~12Gbps with IDS/IPS. Can't find a spec page for the firewalla gold plus showing IDS/IPS. If it is limited to 2.5Gbps though then UXG-fiber or UCG-fiber looks like a sensible domestic option.

Especially as it has a 10Gbps RG45 socket that can be used for WAN that is perfect for Sonic, saves having to add a (potentially problematic) RG45 SFP+ adaptor , and there is absolutely no downside RG45 vs SFP+.

10Gbps LAN is awesome. I was gobsmacked seeing ~2GB of files move from my pc to my NAS in a couple of seconds with my UXG-fiber. It will be great to see super fast WAN performance when I get sonic fiber too (once ATT and PGE get their act together...)

I dream of a 10Gbps LAN someday at home - if we get a Sonic buildout I'll spring to get the network done at home. I got the 10gbps Ethernet for my Mac Mini with such a hope in mind... someday!
