I have Fusion IP Broadband Residential X1 which I believe is at least partially on AT&T copper. I saw a reddit post this morning from someone saying their AT&T copper wire home internet is being discontinued and I wonder if those of us using that service through Sonic will be losing our service soon?

Being on the outskirts of Sacramento it's unlikely we'll be getting Sonic Fiber anytime soon so I'm hoping Sonic has a plan to keep us as customers if copper is going away.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. The reality of AT&T's Copper DSL infrastructure, which we leased for years and which some customers still use to this day, is that AT&T is likely migrating away from it. While this won't happen overnight, it is likely to happen eventually. Sonic is doing everything we can to continue providing service to all existing customers and hopefully offer solutions to customers when the time comes.

Your service offering is IPBB, a type of AT&T U-verse technology that provides broadband service over Fiber to the Home or Fiber to the junction box and copper to the home from there. So, you are correct that it is partially reliant on copper infrastructure. However, I believe the Reddit thread you mentioned is in reference to DSL-type services, which have a different infrastructure configuration.

Hopefully, this helps clarify, and as the future of these service offerings becomes clearer, we will keep you updated.
