Scott!
I am in the same area as you and WANT fiber. I know Dane and co say the town needs to help out in deployment but seems daunting with everything else that is going on in my life. To all Fiber providers out there. I would gladly pay 150+ for gigabit fiber per month. Sonic, please help us help you in making the case for fiber. Danville is an awesome place and it needs an awesome provider.

@Carl,
I don't know IF you're still active on this Forum....
UPDATE: I have moved from Danville, (9-7-2024), into Walnut Creek, on Creekside Drive, at Four Seasons Apartments of Walnut Creek.
In October, on a whim, (a prompting from the Holy Spirit, most likely), I decided to 'Check Availability' at my new address. Sonic.com's 'Availability Checker' states, "YES, you qualify for 10Gb Symmetrical Internet at $49.99/Mo!"
I couldn't believe what I saw, so I called Sonic.com and spoke with a knowledgeable Rep. He rechecked my new address, AND, YES, Sonic.com IS available, here in Walnut Creek! I immediately signed a 'Pre-Order' Agreement. On November 19th, my Sonic Account went from stating "January 2025" to "Live"!!!!
Since November 19th, I've been an Intermediary between Sonic.com Tech Support AND the Apartment Complex Management Team. NOW, Sonic.com MUST get an appointment with Apartment Management for a Site Survey. Upon completion of said Site Survey, (and, agreed upon 'Installation Practices'), I WILL THEN be able to set an Installation Date!
I STILL WISH that the City of Danville would make some positive move forward to allow MORE competition; AND, let Sonic.com IN there for the Residents of Danville.
(City of Danville IS a 'Duopoly'. Currently, under this 'City Regulated - 'Duopoly'', ONLY AT&T U-Verse, (FTTN - 'Fiber To The Node' - (ADSL2/VDSL)), and Comcast-Xfinity, (COAX), have access to sell their services for ISP Provision in the City of Danville.)
HOWEVER; AT&T Fiber IS being allowed in "New Residential Construction Zones". These areas are on, (around), Tassajara, (East of Blackhawk), and 'outside' the remainder of the City of Danville where their AT&T U-Verse Services are still being 'maintained'.
(Rumor has recently surfaced stating that AT&T wants to 'kill off' U-Verse, AND is NO LONGER taking on New U-Verse Customers.... They were, (to the best of my knowledge), pushing 'AT&T TV'; BUT even that is being shunted towards AT&T DirecTV Stream using 'Genie' Boxes that can either be connected via Ethernet, (Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6), OR via WiFi to a customer's existing LAN.)
NOTE: In my recent move to Walnut Creek, AT&T U-Verse WAS NOT even offered to me when I contacted AT&T directly asking about 'available' AT&T Services at my new apartment. I specifically asked the Sales Rep about AT&T Fiber, and INSTEAD they tried to push their 'Over-The-Air' 5G Gateway, AND the AT&T DirecTV Stream - 'Genie' Box for TV.... When I asked IF they could GUARANTEE that my existing Vonage VoIP Landline Phone Service Device 'COULD' get 'STABLE' Connection on the 5G Gateway, the Sales Rep WOULD NOT commit to a Yes, or even a No answer. She declined to provide any intelligible position. (Which indicated to me that the answer is NO. AND, I FIRMLY believe this to be the case with ALL 5G Gateway ISP Providers.)
INSTEAD, now, I'm 'stuck' with the 'EVIL EMPIRE' of Comcast-Xfinity at 300Mb Service on their 'Internet Only' package at $35/Mo - INTRODUCTORY/Promotion Pricing for 24 Months, NO ACTUAL Contract to break, JUST a 'Discount Package' for 24 Months from 9-7-2024. (After 24 Months, 'regular' pricing goes to $79/Month. (Internet ONLY.))
It was later in October that I thought about checking Sonic.com's availability at my new place. AND FOUND TO MY SURPRISE that 'YES', Sonic.com is HERE in Walnut Creek! I signed up for 'Pre-order' status, (I believe October 13th), AND on November 19th my Sonic.com 'Pre-order' changed to 'Live'!!! (I CAN'T WAIT for my new Sonic.com Fiber Internet Service to get installed.) It's been a LONG, HARD FOUGHT SLOG of a battle, BUT NOW, I'm beginning to see the light after starting out in these Forums as a 'Guest' Login in 2017; BUT after 7 Years, I'm on the precipice of obtaining Sonic.com Fiber.
God Bless, and Good Luck.
