Can't get close to 10gb bandwidth

Don't know what settings TP-Link has or suggests, but for my Mellanox cards:

These are the settings I change:

Jumbo Frames: 1514 (Adjust accordingly, match on both connections)
Max RSS Procs: 8
Max RSS Queues: 16
(I have a Ryzen 3700x, matches my cores/threads)
Receive Buffers: 4096 (Max)
Send Buffers: 4096 (Max)

FYI: I don't have Sonic's 10g service, this is within my internal network.

I downloaded Ookia speed test. The results without a router in the line and using a cat 6a cable are 1300+ download and 3500 - 4500 upload. Task Manager indicates a CPU usage in the 20 to 30 percent range. I played with some of the TX-401 adapter advance settings, as per TP-Link support, but didn't see a definitive difference.

Running sonic's speedtest gives much slower speeds, especially on the upload side. I assume sonic's speedtest is web based and Ookia's is an app. I did notice that sonic's speedtest used twice the CPU percentage as the Olkia did. I ran the sonic speedtest in Firefox.

I also installed the latest TS-401 driver.

Have you the latest bios for your motherboard? I think your board is nearly 10 years old. Also, update the chipset drivers etc. Then, retest.

I have updated the driver to the latest Marvell adapter driver. I downloaded Ookia speedtest which I believe is an app rather that a web program. When I run the Ookia app I am getting approx. 1500 down and 3500 up. My CPU usages is around 20% when running the test. This is with a cat 6a from the ONT to the PC. I tried changing some of the driver setting but no change.

Is it normal for the speed results to jump around like a yoyo?

You said that earlier. I asked if you have the latest bios for your old motherboard along with chipset drivers updated. Those are pretty important. Something is off with your hardware setup.

Have you tried with actual jumbo frames like 7436 bytes?

By chipset drivers do you mean Firmware?

Its very possible the card is running at x8, x4 or even x2 depending on which x16 slot you're using and what's in the other shared slots. A good test would be to use iperf between 2 directly connected 10g capable PCs on your lan.

I have tried the TX401 in a different slot, no change. I update the bios to current version, no change. I am using a 6a cable. I updated the TX401 to Marvell's current version, no change. I played with the advanced settings as per TP-link, no change. The CPU goes up to a max of 20% during the Ookia app test. Still need to update firmware on TX401 if possible.

If I run the Ookia speedtest through my 1g router I get 950/950 approx. However, when bypassing the router I get this: 1572/6721 1445/2914 1350/3097 1344/2986 1356/4256 1389/4599. Not very steady and low numbers.
