For those looking for a wifi access point that will saturate their 10 Gbps fiber, Engenius is releasing a new access point and has a special pricing until dec 31.
It's still not cheap though at $600.

I use a Mikrotik CRS312-4C+8XG-RM which cost me around $500 from Getic (tax-free since Getic is a European online store). A bit expensive but it's very good. It's got twelve 10Gbps ports - eight RJ45 and four combo RJ45 or SFP+ ports. It's fully managed and runs MikroTik's RouterOS, but can run SwOS too. You won't find anything better for the price.

The QNAP is fine. If you're okay with an unmanaged switch, any of them should be fine since they all use standard switch SoCs from companies like Broadcom and Marvell that can switch at wire speed. The QNAP has two 10Gbps ports. A few brands have unmanaged 5-port 10Gbps switches for ~$250-280 and 8-port ones for $350-400 (e.g. see TP-Link's TL-SX105 and TL-SX1008).

I'd try to at least get a switch that has basic "smart" functionality - not fully managed, but at least supports VLAN tagging.

Do you want RJ45 or is SFP+ okay? SFP+ switches are cheaper but you'd need to either use fiber or DAC cables. If just SFP+ is okay, then the MikroTik CRS305-1G-4S+IN has four SFP+ 10Gbps ports and is only $110-150, and TP-Link have a fully-managed 8-port SFP+ switch for ~$250 (TL-SX3008F).

If you start getting into the $350-400 price range, I'd just go all-out and get the MikroTik CRS312 :)

For those with $2k burning a hole in their pocket, Ubiquiti released their Enterprise Fortress Gateway last week, which is somewhat overkill for home use but it does do IDS/IPS at >10 Gbps and in addition to 2x 10 Gbps ports has a couple of 25 Gbps ports in case you want a faster LAN for an m.2 NAS. Maybe when my connection goes live I'll celebrate by getting one...

Firewalla Gold Pro 10G It is in a pre-order state; based on reading the Reddit post, it mostly has positive reviews.

Disclosure : I am not a firewalla owner or user. just for information sharing..

Alta Labs has just released their Route10 at $199 MSRP. They have stated the router will do IPS/IDS at 10gigabits when the firmware is updated. Compelling hardware specs for the price point

This is interesting. Definitely keeping an eye on it. I don't understand how they can offer that many features at that price. I'm wondering what corners they've cut to reach that price. 2.5Gbps ports are $15ish each (the physical port + controller + PHY), so that's a $60 BOM just for the Ethernet ports. Qualcomm SoC is probably $30-40. The costs add up quickly.

Ubiquiti stuff isn't cheap, but, just throwing out another result in support of a UDMP as a solid 10G platform.

Does anyone have any guidance how to extend the fiber cord from the white sonic box to modem? I'm having second thoughts about my modem placement and want to move it.

TP-Link Archer BE805 for $299 at Costo online till 11/30!

It has a 10Gb Lan & Wan port + 4 LAN 1gb ports and great Wifi7 speeds if you have an iPhone 16 or newer

Review: https://dongknows.com/tp-link-archer-be ... er-review/

https://www.costco.com/tp-link-archer-b ... 31855.html

This works well with a QNAP 2.5/10GbE switch to pair it with which is only $80 currently:
