Our forecasted fiber install on the Fiber Status Tool has slipped from December 2023 to May, June, and now July 2024. We see CableCom contractors very intermittently installing guy wires on the nearby poles, but no other activity. We’re stuck on the legacy AT&T resold 100 mbps fiber at 2x the monthly price of AT&T’s current gigabit offering.

Why should I stick with Sonic? We’ve gotten no concrete information. Whenever I call Sonic customer service, we get no sympathy whatsoever on pricing, and repeated platitudes about the difficulty of permitting or city requirements.

This seems like a combination of bait and switch and pyramid scheme. If Sonic would just be truthful that you have no actual timeframe that’d be acceptable. Right now you’re stringing us along, and at a time when there are cheaper, more compelling options and when saving is hugely important.

Please give a concrete reason why we should continue to stick this out.

Hello!

Thank you for reaching out! I am sorry to hear about the installation delays. I was able to talk to the Project Manager in the area, and it does seem we are very close to finishing up our construction in your area. We are waiting on a few things to finish up before being able to move with full installations. Once these things clear up, we will send you an email to get an installation date set up!

Please check your next invoice. Thank you for your many years of being a Sonic customer.

Best Wishes!

Any chance I can get a similar update for my area of Concord? Seeing lots of contractor work and also seeing the AT&T fiber push over here.

Hello!

It seems like progress is going well. We are waiting on a few final touches that we need to do in the area before going live. We are looking at a late August / early September if things keep going the way they are. Hopefully, we can do this faster than we expect!

Best Wishes!

Hello,
I am appreciative of the credit. However, this is still highly vague. What few things need to be finished? What exact timeframe is expected? What are the blockers?

Hello!

Sadly, I am not able to provide much more information than what I've provided. I would say maybe 2 months till we are ready to start installations but this could be pushed back or up depending on when we finish up our work.

Best Wishes!

I'm in El Cerrito near Jordan Ave., and our street is up and running as of last week with 10G fiber.

That's quite close to where we are. As far as you know, is it all of Jordan?

Hey Sonic Reps,

It's been a good 1.5 - 2 years of watching our El Cerrito Hills Fiber progress approach a completion date only to get pushed out by months at a time, now again by another month.

What's the ETA nowadays for the Don Carol neighborhood in 94530..?! Are we *close*..?? We're hanging on to our pricey Sonic via AT&T service for a few years now, hoping we'll finally get lit up over here on true Sonic Fiber for a chunk of change less per month. Updates please!!

Thank you!

Would also love an update. The forecast page has said "Your forecasted fiber live date is: [this month]" since at least April... We've also been holding onto pricier AT&T-via-Sonic internet waiting for this since we moved here 2+ years ago. We're just north of Barrett, on the other side from Jordan, and I don't think I've even seen any Sonic trucks in the neighborhood yet...
