I am adding a email server to my NAS and wanted to host a email server on the NAS it seem to be a technical issue on Sonic side that blocks out going email from the host mail server, Support just stated the block port 25 on their side.

Port 25 is used by POP3 it open on my router along with some of the other required ports. My Domain is hosted by Sonic but I use the router IP direct to my router by updating host record in the Sonic DNS I also add my MX record, but I can receive email no issue but sending timeout stays deferred in queue of server,

Any Idea of valid work around?
They did not know of any even when I mention reverse DNS lookup.
Thanks
Dan

Dan, it's been best common practice and our policy to block port 25 in both directions on all residential dynamic IP services for a long, long time. There is no work around for this except to smart host though mail.sonic.net.

Sonic is trying to cater to the masses.
They do not offer static ip on residential fiber (while they did on dsl) and do not open SMTP port on dynamic ips.
They have written that they'd rather people not run services off their connection so they have no plan to remove the port block.

That's not exactly true. You're free to run any service you'd like on a dynamic IP services except for something on port 25. This policy has been in place for ~25 years as part of Sonic being a responsible network operator in the fight against email spam.

I think that was more intended to be along the lines of "don't move your colo that pushes a couple gigs of traffic from HE to your bedroom closet". Small scale personal services like plex, mycloud, or personal websites are expected - to a point.
