Can I use my ASDSL 2+ modem, instead of the rental from sonic
by Doug » Tue Jan 01, 2013 12:04 pm
iabsolutely yes. I am using the motorola adsl+ I bought from sonic when i converted to fusion with no problems. I would like to utilize an integrated modem/router with "n" technology. Anyone with a suggestion?

Thanks Doug, When I tried to sign-up through the internet i no choice to opt out of the rental modem. Guess I should call them instead to subscribe.

It depends on what you mean. Several months ago Sonic instituted a mandatory
modem rental fee of $6.50 for all new customers and you can't avoid that. So
although you can use your own modem, you'll still have to pay Sonic's rental fee
and they may also ask you to use their modem when dealing with Support.

This has been controversial. See, for example, other threads in the Sonic forums
such as viewtopic.php?f=10&t=838

Thanks, Jon
Guess I have no choice. Would to know if the rental modem is the Pace 4111n as advertised with wireless capabilites.

I just subscribed about a month ago, and I got the 4111n. Yes it has wireless a/b/g/n.

Scratch that, no 802.11a, just b/g/n.
