I am having some major issues with my 10G sonic fiber connection specifically with my UDM Pro.

I am seeing major performance degradation and even issues where the connection becomes asymmetrical.

Are there specific configurations you have done with your UDM Pro in order to see the full capabilities of your sonic fiber connection?

I have enabled IPv6, but that does not seem to change the state.

Using a 10GE interface directly into the ONT I am seeing around 8 gigs. However the UDM never "sees" more than 6 gigs when running speed tests. The bigger issue is with network stability/packet loss, and a connection that becomes symmetrical.

I am trying to assess if i have a HARDWARE issue with the UDM or if it's a config issue. I am not sure the UDM is the ONLY source of the issue but I do have a case in with Sonic and it has been escalated.

Hi,
I don't remember what exactly it was. ( GOD. I can't remind what it was )
I think that's the expected behavior in UDM Pro. - I am using UDM SE though.

never mind.
I meant "IDS/IPS throughput".
When it's on, the UDM's throughput becomes 3.5 Gbps.

You may be seeing expected speeds from the UDMP.

Check out these results: around 9 Gbps symmetric with IPS off, and 4 Gbps down/7 Gbps up with IPS on. The results are for an older UDMP release, but should still be indicative.

The UDMP built-in speedtest often reads low. Ubiquiti's speedtest server network isn't that extensive and may not be network-close to you. You may get more accurate results using a wired client connected to a LAN-side 10 Gbps port and a native Speedtest client/app.

I don't mean to necro-bump this post... but here we are...

I am a bit at my wit's end here and looking for any advice people can give me. I am open to ANY config changes or options I should be looking at in order to get the full bandwidth capabilities (and stability) out of my Sonic 10G connection.

I have Sonic 10 Fiber and I am able to get about 8 gigs symmetrical from the ONT if I plug directly into the ONT using a 10G USB C Adapter. The ONT will only issue one IP address so I simply cannot put a 10g Switch behind the ONT. So the issue is happening in the UDM world and not on the Sonic Fiber side.

I am using a UDM Pro as the router. If I used the standard 1GE port (port 9). The router work great but is limited to 1 gig up and 1 gig down... which makes sense.

If I configure Port 10 to be the WAN1 port with a Ubiquiti RJ45 Adapter (UACC-CM-RJ45-10G) the router simply does not recognize the sonic fiber. It says "Cable Unplugged". If I replace the adapter with a FS branded adapter it will recognize the connection. However, I get 4.5 gigs down and only 500 meg up.

I was convinced this was a hardware issue with the UDM Pro so I sent it back for an RMA... and got the new one in place... and the new hardware has the exact same issue. I have ordered two new RJ45 Adapters from Ubiquiti to see if that's possibly the issue, but I have the same issue with two different adapters. These same adapters will work in port 11 as an UPLINK to a Unifi Flex Switch.

We need some additional info to help you troubleshoot this. First thing's first, make sure IDS/IPS and Smart Queues are off before running any speedtest. Next, are you running the speedtest in UniFi OS or using the Speedtest App on a computer connected to the UDMP? The speedtest in UniFi OS is notoriously unreliable, don't use it. If you're running it on a computer connected to the UDMP, how is the computer connected? Also, be sure you're using the native Speedtest app for your computer's OS and not the browser based version. Let us know about the above, and we can help troubleshoot further if necessary.

If you haven't already try forcing the link speed to 10G for the UACC-CM-RJ45-10G modules and see if the link is active. I've had to do that with some of Ubiquiti's UF-RJ45-10G modules between their own switches that can't auto-negotiate at 10G. Otherwise the links are down.

I have an UDMP as well with a RJ45 adapter in port 10, setup as the primary WAN. Gets an easy 7G down / 5G up. Make sure the IPS is turned off. I’ve found the RJ45 modules to be somewhat fickle too but landed on a decent one I guess. Have not done the full speedtest from client recently as I just got a sabrent thunderbolt 10G NIC but imagine it will be pretty close to 10.

From what I've read, due to overhead, the max you're going to get is around 8.5/8.5 I think.

I've had good luck with this one in case anyone wants to try a different one: "Wiitek SFP+ to RJ45" https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B3F5DSXJ/. I get ~8.3Gbps through it with a TP-Link ER8411 router and Mikrotik CRS312-4C+8XG-RM switch.
