I have the legacy Fusion service with phone and internet. I had planned to upgrade to Sonic resold ATT fiber, but see from the forum that this is no longer an option. I have loved the sonic support and am disappointed that Sonic fiber isn't available in my area (Palo Alto). I would however like to upgrade to fiber. My question is whether I can keep my phone number (either through Sonic or transfer to someone else) if I buy the ATT fiber service.
Thank you for reaching out regarding your telephone number and voice service questions.
If you chose to keep your telephone number active through Sonic you would likely initiate a downgrade to a voice only circuit, thus removing the internet access from your circuit. Sonic support can accommodate this request for you and go over the specifics. Support can be reached by calling (707)-547-3400 between 8am and 10pm PST 7 days a week.
If you wanted to move your voice service or telephone number to another provider, you would initiate a number port request with the new provider. Sonic would then receive that request from the new provider, and we would release the number to the new provider so they can then assign it to your circuit you have with them. Sometimes there is additional information required by the new provider during a number port such as an account number and a PIN number. You can acquire this information by contacting support and verifying your account.
I hope this helps to provide some clarity.
