I am on Sonic FX1 fiber (resold AT&T Fiber) on the 50Mbps plan and I have frustrating DNS lookup failures throughout the day. On windows machines, this is mostly an annoyance, as Chrome will generally show the failure message, and then re-load automatically.
On the Macs however, this is frustrating, as Safari tends to want to cache the DNS fail forever, so you need to flush DNS cache or open a Chrome browser window.
My equipment:
Modem: Motorola NVG589
Router: Netgear Nighthawk X6 R8000
I have the modem configured in it's IP passthrough mode so that I can use my own router, and I followed the instuctions as described here: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/17734
I have tried changing the nameservers used by the router from AT&T's (68.94.156.1/68.94.157.1) to Google's public ones (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4), and that did not make a difference.
Has anyone else had this issue before?
