I have a very small website that is currently hosted on Godaddy that I am moving over to Mini Hosting here. How then to use my domain name that is currently registered also with Godaddy to point to the files in Sonic Mini Hosting? Possible? Basically I want it to look like my domain name and for users to not see the thoth.users.sonic.net for ex.

Maybe not possible with Mini Hosting? Would have to forward I guess? But then users would see sonic.net in URL I would imagine.

Basically since my site is so small I'm trying to get away with using Mini Hosting for free and just point my domain name to the new location here at Sonic. But still have users see the domain name throughout site.

Thanks in advance.

By "mini hosting" I take it you mean the free personal web hosting? This would not be do-able with a current domain name, only if you register a new name when you sign up for the personal hosting. If you upgrade to Value hosting, you can point the domain at it.

Thanks. I thought as much. I guess you don't get nameservers with Personal Web Hosting/Mini Hosting to point your domain to.

Two different products here:

"Mini" hosting is username.members.sonic.net style hosting.

Personal web hosting is also free, but with a new yourname.com. The free domain includes free registration for a year. Must be a new domain.

See first four paragraphs of this article for more details on the differences between the free mini hosting and the free personal hosting: https://wiki.sonic.net/wiki/Personal_Hosting

Next step up is Value hosting, $9.95, more storage, any domain, registration can be here or elsewhere, etc.

Can one set up the personal web hosting with the new domain, then use Sonic.net DNS-only hosting to point to the same site?

No, because personal hosting is name based (shared IP), not IP based.

Use Godaddy's dns manager make a CNAME record for www.yourgodaddydomain.com to yoursonicusername.members.sonic.net. Not sure it is totally standard compliant but should work and would cost nothing.
