Our contracts are only for Fusion Internet + Phone. We try and include additional features like usenet, faxline, etc; but they are additional and can be removed if they are no longer feasible.

My original contract with Sonic included Usenet access, and it was used as a selling feature.Usenet access was not an added-on feature at the time. I upgraded to Fusion when it became offered in my area so that Sonic would roll in my old AT&T landline and manage that as well. Nothing was mentioned that we may lose part of our original service. Even though there are only a few of use who still use Usenet, some of us will never see Sonic FTTH, so we are losing a service so that others may benefit on new offerings from Sonic.

My guess is since you upgraded to Fusion, you're no longer legally under your original contract. The law does not require the party providing service to continue honoring the original contract. But most companies place those customers under a grandfathered plan. Even doing so recently one of the wireless providers--either AT&T or Verizon--decided they would no longer honor grandfathered terms. As customers we could cancel service and the law provides protection for customers with not having to pay early termination fees stipulated the original contract--as long as the change in service was within the original contract (normally 1, 2 year).

There are so many low cost (if not free) options for Usenet access I guess I don't see the problem. You're one of literally 300 customers still using Usenet at Sonic.
