Mimosa Networks, Inc., announced its "MicroPoP" massive MIMO network architecture on 7/7/2016. The below-linked article indicates that some "500 ISPs so far" are using or testing Mimosa's equipment in the U.S.
The Mimosa system generally is claimed to provide between 250-300 mbps for each of multiple users, within generally a 500 meter radius of each access point. The equipment cost and installation is claimed to have an initial cost per customer of $150-$300, thereby permitting rapid recovery of the initial cost. Rooftop deployment, typically. No trenching, no muss, no fuss, no CEQA (or at least, not other than for the access points).
The article also mentions that a California ISP, Sail Networks, is conducting a three-month trial of the system in Fremont.
Is Sonic one of the "500 ISPs" that are testing the system? Does Sonic have any plans for Bay Area or other trials, a la Sail Networks?
