Okay, thanks for the replies and useful information. I'd likely figure something out no matter what my situation was, but if I can have the ATA away from the modem, then it'll all work out perfectly. My phone jack where I want the modem was originally just setup as a normal phone jack and not for any network closet or anything, so it'll likely work, but I'll be sure to test it out.

The AT&T tech offered and did this for me. I had been thinking of this as "backfilling" the phone lines, and then he used those exact words!
