Can't Connect to Pace Router Setup Page

I've got FTTN and the new Pace Modem / Router from AT&T that comes with it.

I'm using an Apple Airport in bridge mode as a wireless access point because
1) I've got too many devices to connect to the Pace
2) I prefer Apple's wi-fi/router setup (what that hell is a DMZ?)

So the Pace acts as the modem, and the Airport acts as a wireless access point. Everything works fine using the internet, and I can surf to my heart's content.

However, when the Airport is connected to the Pace, I can no longer access the Pace's setup page (192.1681.254 or gateway.pace.com). It simply doesn't connect. If I unplug the Airport from the Pace, I can reach the setup page no problem.

Anyone know what's happening here and how I can fix it?

Thanks,

It sounds like to me you need to put the airport or pace on a separate subnet. When they both try to use the 192.168.1.x sub block, they conflict, or at least that's what I am thinking. You can try setting up the airport to 192.168.2.x, and the pace to 192.168.1.x

If that doesnt work you can connect to the pace wirelessly and you should be able to get to the setup page with gateway.pace.com without a hitch.

Sounds like the Pace is in bridged mode (acting as a modem only) and you are using the apple thing as your router instead of an access point. My pace uses 192.168.42.XXX as a subnet....maybe different pace modems use different default subnets....Which Pace do you have?

Thanks folks.

After a bout of restarting and unplugging/plugging, things seem to be working. I can only assume there was a misassignment of IPs and as you say, the Airport was competing with the Pace.
