Install PhpGedView genealogy app on Sonic mini-hosting ??

Hi,

I'm interested in running PhpGedView, or a fork of it, on my Sonic personal webspace.
It's a "genealogy program which allows you to view and edit your genealogy on your website."

Anyone know if this is possible ?

Besides requiring PHP and MySQL (for the most part), it just says, "use your FTP client to transfer the phpgedview directory and all it's contents to your web space. At the root of the directory is a set of .php files.

PHP is going to be new for me (although I'm up for the task) so I thought I'd ask before I go down that road.

Our hosting platform meets the non-optional requirements listed on the page you linked. You may want to call support and ask them to enable shell access for your account (no charge, you just have to agree to the TOS) so that you can have an alternative to your FTP client for file interactions on the server. Some of the permissions that the guide recommends you change may already be set properly.
