I just read a CNET article today about possible faster DSL http://www.cnet.com/news/lowly-dsl-broa ... eed-boost/ . I hope this becomes a reality. Would somebody at Sonic.net care to comment?
Sonic has commented on this before. If you read the article closely, you'll see that G.fast, along with Vectoring will bring high speed connections over copper pairs only about 160 feet. That's not very far in areas of single family homes and isn't practical for those customers.
Most likely, you'll see this kind of technology used to distribute connections within larger buildings such as apartments (a so called MDU - Multiple Dwelling Unit). This would require fiber to the premise to provide the bandwidth necessary for a large number of units.
