How do I create a top level index.html document that will point anyone who lands on my basic domain name (http://www.mapbliss.com) to the correct sub directory at that location (my website)?

Thanks,
David

There are several ways to make one URL point to another. One would be using a .htaccess rewrite or .htaccess redirect. The other would be to put a "meta refresh" into an HTML file as you described.

My prefered solution would be to simply point mapbliss.com to the directory your site is in. This can be done through our member tools at https://members.sonic.net/websites/hosting/dir/

Hi John,

So re setting my hosting directory to the new sub directory helped. www.mapbliss.com now points to the correct page. However, now, none of the other subfolders can be accessed online. I have several other sub directories under www.mapbliss.com, that I usually either manually go to or that link from my main MedeCart page. None of those are viewable now. Following my old links or entering the url directly brigand me to a 404 page where it sued to take me to the page.

If it helps, attached is the structure of the folders under my domain http://www.mapbliss.com.

http://www.mapbliss.com should lead directly to the pages in the MedeCart folder (which it now does, thank you).

But I should also be able to manually direct my browser to the other folders by simply swamping out the sub folder name in the URL. And the links I have to those folders from pages in the MedeCart sub folder should still work as well.

For instance this URL (http://www.mapbliss.com/OregonLighthouses/) used to take me directly to the OregonLighthouses page of my site. And this (http://www.mapbliss.com/MedeCart/KokeeTrailMap.html) should open the Kokee page. Both were working before I changed the host directory.

bump

Worked on this last night and nothing I do makes the old sub directories visible or linkable now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
David
