why doesn't this get me to my sonic.net mini web folder /home/www_pages/rootes1/tirost-portal.htm

Hi Norm,

That is the server path to the file which is relevant when editing and uploading content.

To access from your browser, either http://sonic.net/~rootes1/tirost-portal.htm or http://rootes1.users.sonic.net/tirost-portal.htm should work.
