I called Sonic support and no one can tell me the correct way to add an SRV record to my dns..

They recommend I post this.... WTF

I need to add
5. SRV Records: Find where to add an SRV record, and enter
Port Protocol Name Service Priority Weight Target
443 _tls @ _sip 100 1
5061 _tcp @ _sipfederationtls 100 1

the sonic dns for SRV records is cryptic.. Anyone know how to add these?

Hi Farlin,

SRV records are some of the more complicated DNS records because of how many different values are involved and the terminology can vary. The protocol, service, and name given in your post all make up the DNS name portion of the record. It then has multiple other values that all need to fit in our "Record" field (the weight, port, and target).

Here is exactly what you should enter in each field in the Sonic DNS tool:

Record #1
Name: _sip._tls
TTL: 7200
Type: SRV
Priority: 100
Record: 1 443

Record #2
Name: _sipfederationtls._tcp
TTL: 7200
Type: SRV
Priority: 100
Record: 1 5061

The name "@" they refer to is an alias for your domain name which Sonic adds automatically. This is why it doesn't appear anywhere above.

Let me know if whether or not that works out. Feel free to PM me your domain name as well and I can take a look at what you have.

No problem Rob, glad that did the trick! I don't think you missed any documentation regarding SRV records specifically.

If I can assist further don't hesitate to ask.
